Mongols MC targets in Cairns under Operation Victor Jenga

#gridsparta #bikies #mongolsmc Operation Victor Jenga - Detectives from the Major and Organised Crime Squad Far Northern, alongside officers from the Far North Tactical Crime Squad, have charged a 42 year old man during an ongoing crackdown on members and associates of the Mongols bikie club in Cairns. Operation Victor Jenga began in August 2023 with the aim of disrupting outlaw motorcycle club activity, gathering intelligence, and carrying out enforcement action against those involved. On 26 February, police executed a search warrant at a home in Mount Sheridan. Officers allegedly seized a substantial quantity of methylamphetamine and cocaine, along with cash, electronic devices and drug paraphernalia. Two rifles, a shotgun and a handgun were also located at the property. Police will allege the man is a member of the Mongols bikie club in Cairns. He has been charged with two counts of unlawful possession of weapons and two counts of possessing a dangerous drug in a significant quantity. He also faces further charges including unlawful possession of a prohibited weapon, failing to hold the required authority to possess explosives, possession of property suspected to be the proceeds of a drug offence, and possession of drug utensils. The man was remanded in custody and is due to reappear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on 21 April. Detective Senior Sergeant Brad Grace, Officer in Charge of the Major and Organised Crime Squad Far Northern, said police remain focused on targeting bikie members who harm the community. He said the squad will continue using intelligence led strategies to disrupt organised crime in the Far North and warned that anyone involved in illegal, anti social or violent behaviour linked to outlaw bikie clubs should expect to face court.
