A lot of us don’t realize just how powerful music really is. The words we sing, the messages we absorb — they don’t just stay in our ears. They work their way into our hearts and shape the way we think, feel, and live. ⠀ As Christians, we’re called to guard our hearts. That includes being mindful of what we listen to, and what we let our children listen to. ⠀ This isn’t about calling out Taylor Swift. She seems like a kind and talented person. But when we look at the themes and messages in popular music — hers included — we have to ask ourselves: Does this honor God? Does it help me grow in holiness? Does it align with truth? ⠀ Music isn’t neutral. It has a message. And over time, that message forms a mindset. ⠀ Let’s be intentional. Let’s be discerning. And let’s talk about it.
