We found this skin-and-bones girl living in a garbage pile in South Dallas, scarfing down trash just to survive. There seems to be some sort of skin condition attacking her neck. Our team is eager to get Toast on the way to healing, but her care needs are intense. We can’t save this hurting girl without YOUR support! Our team was out driving one day when we spotted Toast rooting around a garbage pile in search of something to eat. This sweetheart was starving. Blood seeped from the irritated, hairless patch of skin on her neck. Toast was wary of us, but we won her over with some chicken. This hurting girl was so weak that she couldn’t even resist as we picked her up and carried her to safety. She simply gave in, exhausted and defeated. It was one of the most heartbreaking scenes we’ve witnessed. We won’t forget it for a long time. Right now, Toast’s condition is extremely fragile. Starvation has left her body depleted, making even basic recovery difficult, while the irritated skin around her neck puts her at high risk of infection. We aren’t sure what we’re dealing with just yet, but we have an appointment scheduled with our veterinarian soon. We anticipate Toast will need basic vetting, including vaccines, preventatives, and a spay procedure, in addition to specialized care for whatever’s happening with her skin. Without immediate treatment and proper nutrition, her chances of overcoming this painful chapter of her life are dangerously low. Our team stepped in for Toast because we wouldn’t have been able to sleep at night knowing she was out there all alone, barely clinging to life and eating trash just to get by. But we can’t save Toast by ourselves. Our rescue is juggling multiple medical cases simultaneously, and our limited funds are struggling to keep up with the demand.
