Mitsubishi drops a new engine in the 2026 Mitsubishi Outlander // review

This is a Motormouth couple car review of the 2026 Mitsubishi Outlander compact SUV. Gone is the 2.5L 4-cylinder engine, the 2026 Mitsubishi Outlander has moved to a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder with a 48-volt mild hybrid system, it’s matched to a CVT, 174 horsepower and 206 lb-ft of torque. You lose 8 horsepower but gain 25 lb-ft of torque with the new engine. Torque is what you really want. In Canada, standard Super All-Wheel Control. In the US, both FWD and SAWC are available. The 2026 Mitsubishi Outlander is a unique vehicle in this class as it offers a third row to move smaller children in a pinch. It’s a very comfortable SUV to drive that’s versatile and practical, it’s quiet and the power will be good enough for many in their daily commute. It offers a lot of value and Mitsubishi has plenty of trims to choose from for different budgets.
