Seal Rescue: His Flippers Were Completely Bound

It has been a while since we’ve seen an entanglement this restrictive. This poor seal’s hind flippers were completely bound together by a thick bundle of snoek line, effectively acting as a pair of handcuffs. Because he couldn’t swim properly, he was an easy catch, but his condition was devastating. The line had caused a severe infection and left him dangerously emaciated. While the rescue was successful and the line is gone, his journey is far from over. We honestly don’t know if he will survive, but with Namibia’s fish-rich waters and his newfound freedom, we are holding onto hope.
