A reporter pulled the government’s own files: 1,310 reports of sexual abuse in immigration detention in just three years. A watchdog group found over a thousand more. There’s a federal law meant to stop exactly this kind of abuse behind bars. The Justice Department argued immigration jails shouldn’t have to follow it — the same government locking these women up saying the law protecting them from abuse doesn’t apply. You pay for that jail. So what does that make you?
