Quebec man charged after Winnipeg senior defrauded in grandparent scam: police | Press Conference

A 24-year-old man has been arrested after a Winnipeg senior fell victim to a "grandparent scam," police say. The Winnipeg Police Service said a person in their 80s received a phone call from someone pretending to be a justice official on Feb. 27. The scammer told the senior a relative was arrested and that they needed money so they didn't go to jail, police said in a news release Friday.
