Is it just me, or is anyone else sick and tired of this ‘girls who wear makeup must be insecure and ugly’ malarky? They think makeup is a mask, that we just have the ability to paint a new face on. Wouldn’t that be nice?! Unfortunately, we’re born with facial features and bone structure that we dont actually get to choose, so we’re not starting with a blank canvas. Hence why makeup has its limitations. It’s fun, its creative, its empowering yes - but it cant ACTUALLY change what you look like naturally THAT much. Makeup can only work with what you already have, so if you’re pretty with it, I can promise you that you’re pretty without it too. But let’s also acknowledge, that us females also DO have sin texture. Dark circles. Redness. Acne breakouts. Wrinkles. ITS NORMAL AND NATURAL AND TO BE EXPECTED. We’re humans, remember? Men have all those too. Makeup can disguise these things, but it can not remove them entirely. So you can take your girl swimming on a first date if you want - but there’s a reason waterproof makeup exists, and she probably wouldn’t want to go on a date with someone as shallow as that anyway.
