If I had to choose between a statin and a PCSK9 inhibitor, I’d choose a PCSK9 inhibitor. Statins lower LDL, but they can also worsen insulin resistance, increase Lp(a), increase diabetes risk, suppress GLP-1, interfere with mitochondrial function, and potentially contribute to muscle loss. PCSK9 inhibitors can lower Lp(a), don't negatively imapct muscles, mitochondria or cross the blood brain barrier. This isn’t medical advice.
