Screamers (Anhimidae) are ancestral and unusual species of Anseriformes (waterfowl). They have features of the ducks, geese and swans (e.g., they swim) and of the Galliformes (gamebirds), such as chicken-like legs and a pheasant-like bill. Their large carpal spurs on their wings are used for defence.
