This had its roots all the way with the founding of the city when brother had turned on brother. From then on a sacred boundary, known as the Pomerium, was established to safekeep the sanctity of the city. However the demands of the growing city would soon stretch the feasibility of this weapons ban system. What happened when a militia had to take up arms? What about a triumphal parade? What about law enforcmenet, gladiators, hunters??? The answers to these questions reveal some fascinating insights on the workings of everyday life in Rome.
