Description

One of the dark sides of breeding fish, is occasionally you get a batch of fry, that didn't develop properly. In this video, we look at the whys and how to humanely euthanise. using the agreed method from the RSPCA website (its an animal rescue charity in the UK for all our none UK viewers) The method uses clove oil that contains eugenol rather than an essential oil. The Clove oil acts as an anaesthetic and when used correctly, it puts the fish to sleep, and then you overdose them. Use 0.4ml per litre of tank water, mix the required dose in a separate container of warm water, slowly over 5 to 10 minutes add half of the mux to the container the fish are in, once they are on their sides anaesthetised, add the remaining 50%. and leave them in the container for at least 30 minutes. they should have stopped breathing and have no gill movement, job done. You can put in a bag and freeze solid in the freezer. Dispose of ethically, bu adding to the dustbin (trash can) or burying so other animals cant dig up. DO NOT flush down the toilet.
