Description
After servicing this 'bottom of the range' emergency radio (3-channel crysal cntrolled 9/14/30) it was time to test it. Receive was 1,5uV for 10dB SINAD...which of course is lousy. In test, the 2.9W transmit was excellent & the audio from the built-in electret mike was punchy.
Receive was awful....but we managed the full 6 mile route.
Recorded 31st May 2026
Mr Chippie drove along our usual 6-mile test route, the 'wrong side' of a hill. He stopped at the five mile point to test this set as a low power static test. The radio was set for 2.9W for full power & 0.4W (400mW) for low power. The built-in mike was used throughout...no other option.
Our continued thanks to Thunderpole for kindly supplying the T3000 radio (and new mike) which is fitted to the test vehicle at no cost to us. This is the sole reason for the 'paid promotion' marker on this video.
