Description
The Open Day at Twyford Waterworks on Sunday 7th June 2026 was their second open day for the 2026 season. The last of two videos included the large 1934-built Ruston 4VER Diesel Pumping Engine running, lots of other smaller engines and pumps in operation, the water softening works, including the hydraulic (water-powered) engines working, demonstrations on the industrial railway with the 1956-built Lister SR2 Diesel Shunter 42494, along with visiting exhibits and displays such as two traction engines, and the departure of a 1999-built Morgan Plus 8 Roadster.
Malcolm Hudson, a former electrical engineer and the chairman of the South Hants Historic Steam and Engineering Society, whom I also know since meeting him outside a shed at The Brickworks Museum / Bursledon Brickworks, where steam engines are kept on my visit in 2018, granted me permission to film onboard footage from the footplate and shots of the working components of his 1919-built Garrett 4CD Steam Tractor No. 33782 ‘Dorothy’ in the care of the South Hants Historic Steam & Engineering Society at The Brickworks Museum (also known as Bursledon Brickworks) in Swanwick within the Borough of Fareham.
