The arrests were linked to a wider investigation into a shooting in Concord, where detectives began tracking phone data, vehicles, and financial activity. This led them to a shipment that arrived at Sydney Airport on October 25, containing around 128 kilograms of cocaine hidden inside industrial steel wire spools. The load had been set up to look like regular freight. Police moved in at Condell Park when the men tried to access the shipment. Searches at nearby properties uncovered more drugs and cash. The men, identified as Aisea Vatuwaqa and Cyprian Buadomo, are both linked to the KVT gang, a Western Sydney crew with Fijian roots known for violence and drug trafficking. Their group has had ties to the Alameddine crime network but is now seen as trying to operate more independently. Police say the operation prevented a large quantity of cocaine from entering the community. While the arrests are considered a major hit to KVT, authorities remain concerned about the group’s influence, its loose structure, and the potential for further violence linked to power struggles in Sydney’s criminal scene.
