Description
Watch the Sun live, 24 hours a day. This continuous space weather broadcast streams real-time data from NOAA and NASA, updated around the clock — your one-stop station for solar flares, geomagnetic storms and aurora alerts.
ON SCREEN RIGHT NOW:
☀️ Live views of the Sun from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO), rotating through multiple wavelengths — see the chromosphere, corona, sunspots and magnetic fields
🎬 SDO daily movie — the last 24 hours of solar activity
📊 Planetary Kp index — live geomagnetic storm gauge
🌬️ Real-time solar wind speed, density and IMF Bz from the L1 monitor
⚡ GOES X-ray flux with live flare classification (B / C / M / X)
🌌 NOAA aurora forecast — will you see the Northern Lights tonight?
🚨 Scrolling NOAA SWPC alerts, watches and warnings as they're issued
WHAT DO THE NUMBERS MEAN?
Kp 5+ = geomagnetic storm (G1–G5). The higher the Kp, the further south aurora can be seen
Bz negative (southward) = Earth's magnetic shield is "open" — aurora more likely
M and X class flares can cause radio blackouts and launch CMEs toward Earth
Drop a comment if you spot a flare or catch the aurora from your location! 🌍
