The Day of Arafah is the greatest day of the Islamic year. On the 9th of Dhul Hijjah, pilgrims gather on a vast plain outside Mecca and stand before Allah from midday until sunset, in prayer and supplication. It was on this very day that Allah revealed the completion of our religion. The Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "Hajj is Arafah." The entire pilgrimage turns on this single moment. For those not on Hajj, the Prophet gave a tremendous gift: fast this day, and Allah will forgive the sins of two years. One day. Two years.
