Epilepsy: Closing The Treatment Gap

Epilepsy is a serious disease affecting 50 million people across the globe. Untreated, it can lead to death, but over 85% of those with epilepsy live in low- and middle-income countries, where access to medical care and medicines is much more constrained Arjune Sen and his collaborators use technological solutions to allow others, especially non-physician healthcare workers, to help advance patient care. They also work to develop culturally-sensitive technologies that defeat the barrier of stigma that this disease has faced for so long. Together, they have the potential to significantly improve the quality of life in people with epilepsy across the world.
