GROUNDED IN GOD | The Word Exposed with Cardinal Tagle (February 22, 2026) with Sign Language We have entered the holy season of Lent. On its first Sunday, we are invited to reflect on the temptations that Jesus faced. After Jesus’s baptism, the Spirit led him to the desert where he prayed and fasted for 40 days. There the devil tempted him to prove that he was the Son of God by satisfying his hunger and by testing God’s fidelity to His promise. The devil offered all earthly riches, power, and kingdoms, if Jesus would worship him. Friends, we are familiar with this gospel narrative. Temptation is an invitation to ground our lives on ourselves. Jesus fought temptations by grounding himself on the Word of God. Thus, Jesus remained confident and he prevailed over the devil. But are we following Jesus’s way? As we face temptations each day, let us ground ourselves on God’s Word. Let us respond as the Lord did: Get away, Satan! God’s Word gives life. God is trustworthy. and there is no other god than Him. O God, grant us the grace to rely on your Word in moments of temptations. For you are faithful and you alone are God. Amen.
