Legislative hearings on Quebec’s proposed new constitution got off to a bumpy start Thursday with the Quebec Liberals calling for the legislation to be scrapped outright, Québec Solidaire saying the bill is illegitimate and the Parti Québécois proposing its own plan, which it says would have more credibility.
“Bill 1 is a project without legitimacy and authoritarian and politically oriented,” said André Albert Morin, the Liberal MNA on the committee. “It is the fruit of seven years of a caquiste government that is working to muzzle all people and groups that don’t think like it.” (Via Assemblée nationale)
