Cuyahoga County medical examiner identifies 3-year-old child fatally shot in Eastlake

The 3-year-old child who died in Eastlake after suffering a gunshot wound Friday has been identified. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the toddler as Paul Bradley. According to Eastlake police, the child was brought to University Hospitals Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby just after 7:15 p.m. with a bullet wound to the abdomen. Following emergency surgery, Paul was flown to UH Cleveland Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities later found out that the child was shot at the Willowood Apartments on Vine Street. "Tragically, the young child in this incident succumbed to his injuries last night," police said in an updated news release Saturday morning. Eastlake police detectives went to the apartment where the incident took place, but at this time, it is still not known what led up to the shooting or how it may have happened. Police say the incident remains under investigation, with assistance from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation. "We will continue to gather facts, and we will rely on the evidence to ensure a thorough investigation is completed," Eastlake police said in a statement. "The Eastlake Police Department would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family during this extremely difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers remain with them. We respectfully ask that everyone honor the family's privacy as they grieve and mourn their loss."
