Description

Every now and then, the ocean gives us a bit of a break! This rescue required a completely different approach, and our team couldn't help but laugh at how it all played out. Usually, we are scanning the colony from a massive distance, sprinting through heavy sand with heavy nets, desperately trying to keep our eyes on the target while avoiding bites from hundreds of territorial seals. But today at Cape Cross was a completely different story. Because the seals here are totally accustomed to tourists walking along the wooden boardwalk, they don't view humans up there as a threat. When we spotted an entangled pup sitting literally one meter away right under our feet, we didn't even have to step onto the beach. All it took was swinging the net right over the fence, securing him, and cutting a tight loop of rope off his neck. He was back with his friends just seconds later! The poor little guy looked completely bewildered and turned around to stare at us, trying to figure out what on earth had just happened. 🦭 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Please visit our website to find out more about our work and how to support us: ➡ Website: https://www.ocnamibia.org/ ➡ Donate via Paypal: https://ow.ly/BTm550PIavq ➡ Donate via Stripe: https://ow.ly/Xy1F50PIMzQ ➡ Support via Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/OCN ➡ FAQs: https://www.ocnamibia.org/faqs Follow us on social media: ➡ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/oceanconservationnamibia/ ➡ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/OCNamibia ➡ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@oc_namibia ➡ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/ocnamibia/ ➡ Twitter: https://twitter.com/ocnamibia 😊 Thank you for every like, share, comment and subscribe 😊 Ocean Conservation International is registered as a non-profit organisation under chapter 501(c)3.
