Bank Robbery Suspect Shot After Pointing Fake Gun At Sacramento Officers

* (Disclaimer: The content in this video is intended for educational and informational purposes only) Sacramento, California — On January 29, 2026, at approximately 4:20 p.m., the Sacramento Police Department Communications Center received a call for a report of a robbery in progress at a bank in the 1600 block of Response Road. The caller reported a white male adult in his 30's or 40's wearing a green jacket, blue shirt, and in possession of a black backpack, just robbed the teller. The caller advised he saw the teller give the suspect money, exit the bank, and was last seen heading toward the fire station in the 1700 block of Response Road. Officers arrived on scene, contacted bank staff, and broadcasted updated information to additional responding officers. Additional responding officers began searching the area and located an individual matching the description of the suspect running near the 1800 block of Exposition Boulevard. Officers pursued the suspect and gave the suspect multiple commands to drop the firearm. The suspect did not drop the firearm. The suspect pointed the firearm at the officers, and an officer-involved shooting occurred. Officers provided emergency medical aid to the suspect until the Sacramento Fire Department arrived on scene. The suspect was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Officers recovered what was later determined to be an imitation firearm on scene.
