Description
My brand-new trailer just broke in half, and the fenders are falling off.
Actually, this is a tilt-deck trailer.
It tilts down for loading and unloading so you don’t need ramps, the entire trailer becomes a ramp.
This trailer has a hydraulic dampening cylinder- it controls the tilt speed so the deck opens and closes smoothly.
And it’s adjustable- here I open the valve so it will close with just my weight on it.
The thing I love about this style of trailer is I can load large or small equipment without having to lift and adjust heavy ramps.
It can also be used as car hauler, and if you’re hauling a low sports car and need room to open the door the fenders are removable.
I’ve been borrowing a trailer for years, so it’s really nice to finally have my own.
It seems like the really tried to think through everything with this trailer, but there’s a few things I would change.
The license plate smashes when you tilt down, and I wish it had more D-rings.
I’ll probably weld some on where I need them.
I paid $2,500 more for a tilt trailer versus a trailer with ramps- let me know, do you think it was worth it? @hausplans
