The curves were sharp, the straights tempting, and our two bikes—the Yamaha R1 and Power Sultan 250cc—danced along the pavement between exhilaration and discipline. After racing through five tunnels within the mountain near Attabad Lake, the final tunnel opened up to a breathtaking surprise — the turquoise expanse of Attabad Lake shimmering in the sunlight. We stopped at a lakeside Hotel and restaurant "lodge by Boran" and savoured a hot cup of coffee while absorbing the views of mountain, lake, and glacier. Its valley floor sits at about 2,438 metres above sea level. Historically, Hunza was a princely state that bordered China and Afghanistan, and it played a crucial role along ancient Silk Road routes. Today, it is renowned for its spectacular mountain scenery, rich cultural heritage, and natural beauty — particularly the change of seasons when lush greens shift to golden autumn hues. **Attabad Lake** Attabad Lake, also known as Gojal Lake, is located in the Gojal region of Hunza. It was formed in January 2010 when a massive landslide in Attabad village blocked the Hunza River, leading to the creation of this stunning turquoise lake. The realignment of a section of the Karakoram Highway including five tunnels was required to restore the route after the lake submerged parts of the road.
