Description

The low-pitched 'oom' calls of the Common Bronzewing are a common sound of the Australian bush. These deep, rhythmic sounds are often mistaken for the call of an owl or frogmouth. Common Bronzewings (Phaps chalcoptera) are a type of native Australian pigeon named for the stunning metallic iridescence on some of their wing feathers. The Common Bronzewing sounds in this video were recorded at dawn in the far south of Tasmania. In this recording you can also hear the calls of Black Currawong, Superb Fairywren, Grey Fantail, Crescent Honeyeater and Tasmanian Boobook. More examples of wildlife sounds and bird calls can be found on my website https://wildambience.com/wildlife-sounds/ All of the sounds featured on this channel were recorded on location by Wild Ambience.
