Description

Artist Rod Kitson, 44, from Surrey Quays, spent nine years painting his entire studio flat on 500 one-metre wooden squares, creating a visual diary of his emotions and daily life. He began the project in February 2018 after a breakup, painting 190 days straight initially, and later restarted in 2025 to unify the boards into one continuous work. Using oil paint and a strict viewfinder method, he brought domestic objects to life while capturing honesty and vulnerability in his home environment. The collection, titled Art of Isolation, will be exhibited at Surrey Quays Shopping Centre from March 13–25.
