Lot rent runs $806 a month and covers water, garbage, cable, and internet. The home is 500-plus square feet with two bedrooms and an L-shaped kitchen island John calls his base of operations. John's living room is built around a wall large enough for a big TV (a non-negotiable for football season) and a sofa with flip-top cushions that convert to a hardwood eating surface. Blackout blinds handle the light when the game is on. The layout keeps everything within easy reach, and John says the counter space, including the island, may actually edge out his previous full-size kitchen. The kitchen runs stainless throughout: refrigerator, full-size oven, microwave, and a dishwasher John fit in by trading a small cabinet. He hasn't noticed the storage difference. His only planned upgrade is pull-out shelves under the counter and in the pantry. John knew going in that he needed two bedrooms: one for sleeping, one for a workout room and home office. The master bedroom is a separate module attached to the main home, with a large closet and a storage bed with deep drawers on each end. The smaller original bedroom delivered both the workout space and the desk setup once John pulled the door off to open up the floor plan. Directly off the master is a secondary porch John uses as a mud room. His dog exits through a fenced run below and comes back the same way, letting John clean up after muddy or snowy walks before coming inside. He plans to screen it in. The bathroom has a pocket door for privacy, a medicine cabinet, and under-sink storage. A compact washer and dryer sits in the hall directly outside. John had never lived with a stacked setup before and calls it a clear win. Both porches face the street. The front porch is being screened in next week. The back porch is larger and gets more sun. John was reading out there the morning this was filmed. You need to be inside something and really see the sense of how it's not really tiny, that it doesn't feel like you're in something tiny. So I would say get out and look at them as opposed to just doing research online. It's good to do that because it gives you an overview, but until you go in one, you don't get a full sense."
