#gridsparta #bikies Media magnet and Mongols bikie Dayne Brajkovich, has spent a night in police custody after being arrested just hours after leaving court, over allegations that he displayed outlaw motorcycle club insignia. The 46 year old appeared at Perth Magistrates Court on Tuesday alongside fellow Mongols member Troy Mercanti. The pair were contesting charges that they breached Western Australia's anti-bikie insignia laws after wearing matching jerseys labelled as TWINS. Police allege the clothing was linked to the Mongols Motorcycle Club. After the hearing, and while leaving the court Brajkovich removed his jersey and handed it to a homeless man, who was waiting outside the courthouse. The act exposed a belt bearing the words "Mongols MC 1% East End", which police allege refers to the Mongols' Malaga chapter. The moment was captured by cameras and later prompted police to visit Brajkovich's home at about 9pm that evening. He was arrested, refused bail and spent the night in custody before appearing in court again the following day. Prosecutors argued Brajkovich had shown a blatant disregard for the law and noted he was already facing multiple similar charges relating to the display of bikie insignia through clothing and tattoos. They claimed his actions indicated he would continue offending if released. However, his lawyer argued that Brajkovich had simply spoken with a homeless man outside court and had forgotten he was wearing the belt. The court ultimately granted him bail. The case comes amid an ongoing crackdown on outlaw motorcycle gangs in Western Australia. Police Commissioner Col Blanch said those who hold leadership positions within such groups should expect increased scrutiny from authorities. Meanwhile, Troy Mercanti has also criticised the level of police attention directed at bikies, with his lawyer questioning the amount of public resources being used to monitor and target members of outlaw motorcycle gangs. Brajkovich's outstanding insignia charges are expected to proceed to trial later this year.
