2026 VW Golf GTI Mk8.5 NZ Full Review | Sharper, Smarter, Still the Benchmark?

The updated Mk8.5 Volkswagen Golf GTI has arrived in New Zealand, bringing design tweaks, interior improvements and updated technology to one of the most iconic hot hatches ever made. In this NZ review, I take a detailed look at the exterior changes, new lighting design, refreshed infotainment system and the overall driving experience on New Zealand roads. The Golf GTI has always been known for its balance of performance, practicality and everyday usability, and this facelift aims to refine what was already a strong package.
