Description
A rare opportunity to explore the mysterious Dinah's Hollow and Melbury Abbas, traffic free!
In Part 1, we explore this normally busy Dorset village and walk up one of Dorset's deepest and most mysterious Holloways. With restoration work about to start on the steep and crumbling sides of Dinah's Hollow, the roads are closed, providing a never seen opportunity to explore this ancient route and the beautiful village of Melbury Abbas on foot. Join me and soak in the beauty and history.
In Part 2, we continue round the village, taking in some of its oldest buildings as well as it's lovely picturesque mill, and then climb up and over Melbury Beacon (used during the Napoleonic Wars) to reach the delightful village of Compton Abbas. We end the day by walking along Fontmell Down in below freezing temperatures as the sun sets.
Heavy frost and bright, winter sunshine really makes this 10 mile walk special. Hope you enjoy!
