Description
.Understand 1 Corinthians 1:30 and what it means for Christ to be our wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. Learn how these truths provide rest from human effort. This study explores the theological foundation of our standing before God. If you have struggled with the pressure of performance-based faith, this breakdown clarifies how believers are identified with Christ. We examine why these four attributes are not earned through personal works but are instead imputed to every believer.By focusing on 1 Corinthians 1:30, we see that our sanctification and redemption are secured by who Christ is, rather than what we do. This perspective shifts the focus from our own perceived failures to the finished work of Jesus. We look at how being sealed in Him changes your daily walk and removes the burden of striving for spiritual approval. This teaching is for anyone seeking a deeper grasp of righteousness in Christ and the freedom it brings. We move away from legalism to focus on the objective reality of our position in Him.Subscribe for weekly biblical breakdowns, and comment below which verse you would like me to cover next.

1 Corinthians 1:30 (KJB 1611–1769)
“But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of
God is made unto us wisdom, and
righteousness, and sanctification, and
redemption:”
This is not poetic language. It is doctrinal
reality. Paul is not telling us what Christ helps
us achieve — he is telling us what Christ
Himself has been made to us.
Let us rightly divide and explain each word
carefully.
1. Christ is made unto us WISDOM
Not human wisdom. Not religion. Not
philosophy.
Earlier in the same chapter Paul says:
1 Corinthians 1:24 (KJB)
“But unto them which are called, both
Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God,
and the wisdom of God.”
You do not gain wisdom by works, rituals, or
law-keeping.
You possess divine wisdom because you are in
Christ.
This is why Paul alone says:
👉
“Follow me; as I follow Christ.” (1
Corinthians 11:1)
Christ reveals Himself today through Paul’s
doctrine (Romans–Philemon).
2. Christ is made unto us RIGHTEOUSNESS
You are not trying to become righteous.
You are made righteous because Christ is your
righteousness.
2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJB)
“For he hath made him to be sin for us,
who knew no sin; that we might be made
the righteousness of God in him.”
This righteousness is:
• Not by law
• Not by works
• Not by self-improvement
It is imputed, permanent, and complete the
moment you believe Paul’s gospel.
3. Christ is made unto us SANCTIFICATION
Sanctification here is positional, not
performance-based.
1 Corinthians 6:11 (KJB)
“And such were some of you: but ye are
washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are
justified in the name of the Lord Jesus,
and by the Spirit of our God.”
You are:
• Set apart
• Separated unto God
• Identified with Christ
You do not sanctify yourself.
Christ

👉 is your sanctification.
4. Christ is made unto us REDEMPTION
Redemption speaks of full payment and
complete deliverance.
Ephesians 1:7 (KJB)
“In whom we have redemption through
his blood, the forgiveness of sins,
according to the riches of his grace;”
And not only past — but future:
Ephesians 4:30 (KJB)
“And grieve not the holy Spirit of God,
whereby ye are sealed unto the day of
redemption.”
You are:
• Redeemed
• Forgiven
• Sealed
• Secure
Not because of what you do — but because of
who Christ is to you.
Why this matters (rightly divided)
This verse is not written to Israel under
prophecy.
It is written to the Body of Christ under the
revelation of the mystery.
Israel was told to:
• Do
• Obey
• Endure
We are told:
• Believe
• Receive
• Stand fast
Christ is everything we need — now and
forever.
In one sentence:
Christ is not helping us become something —
He has been made to us everything
