Description
A grieving mother lives in a home frozen in time after the loss of her son. While spring quietly returns to the world outside, she remains suspended in a private winter, unable to move forward.
Resilience is an intimate and deeply human drama about mourning, silence, and the invisible weight of absence. Rather than dramatizing loss, the film observes it — capturing how grief reshapes time, distorts space, and lingers in everyday gestures. As the world blooms again, the question remains: how do we live with what cannot be undone?

A FILM SHORTAGE SELECTION
Resilience
Directed by Lorenzo Sicuranza
Starring Barbara Esposito, Leonardo Bonaventura
Director’s Statement (Excerpt):
Resilienza was born from a personal need to process loss. After losing a dear friend, I struggled to give voice to that grief. Through conversations with parents who had lost children and consultations with psychologists, we aimed to portray mourning not as spectacle, but as a quiet, suffocating presence embedded in everyday life.
Francesca is suspended in time — her home frozen in the moment of her son’s death. While spring blooms outside, she remains in winter. This film is not about healing, but recognition. It is about the quiet strength required to live alongside absence.
