Description

SMX Convention Center, Pasay City June 7, 2026 As part of the observance of Migrant Workers Month, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) held the OFW Kabuhayan Expo 2026 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City on June 7, 2026. The event brought together government agencies, private-sector partners, financial institutions and training providers to expand opportunities for livelihoods, employment, entrepreneurship and reintegration for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families under the theme 'Bayan. Bayani. Bayanihan.' Anchored in 'Alagang OWWA: Serbisyong May Puso para sa OFW at Pamilya Tungo sa Bagong Pilipinas,' the program highlighted the government’s commitment to safeguarding OFWs’ welfare before, during and after their employment abroad. Led by OWWA’s Regional Welfare Office–National Capital Region in partnership with Banco de Oro (BDO), with participation from OWWA Regional Welfare Offices III and IV-A, the Expo showcased employment, entrepreneurship, franchising, financial services and livelihood opportunities available to OFWs and their families. It also featured the signing of memoranda of agreement (MOAs) between OWWA and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and between OWWA and the Philippine Franchise Association (PFA), aimed at strengthening skills development, workforce readiness and business opportunities for OFWs. Nearly 1,000 participants, including OFWs and their families, returning seafarers, entrepreneurs, livelihood beneficiaries, representatives from government agencies and local government units, financial institutions, training providers and migrant worker advocates attended the Expo. The event also featured a ceremonial opening and a walkthrough of the exhibition hall attended by participating government agencies, financial institutions, franchise companies and private sector partners. In addition, 'Kapihan at Kumustahan' sessions highlighted reintegration programs, entrepreneurship opportunities and success stories of OFW beneficiaries. At the same time, the Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food and Transport (UPLIFT) Committee continued to advance a proactive, compassionate and whole-of-government approach to addressing the needs of OFWs and their families, particularly amid ongoing challenges and crises in the Middle East. The initiative seeks to ensure that affected Filipinos have access to programs for repatriation, reintegration, livelihood assistance, social protection and other essential government services. Under the Bagong Pilipinas vision, the Administration remains committed to ensuring that no Filipino is left behind and that every OFW and their family receive the support needed for their safety, resilience and long-term recovery. * * * Connect with RTVM Website: http://rtvm.gov.ph Facebook: www.facebook.com/presidentialcom and www.facebook.com/rtvmalacanang YouTube: @RTVMalacanang Tiktok: @RTVMalacanang
