Description
A visit to the posh London district of Chelsea! We begin at Sloane Square, before making our way (via Duke of York Square) to the King's Road!
Sloane Square is a small hard-landscaped square on the boundaries of the central London districts of Belgravia and Chelsea, located 1.8 miles (2.9 km) southwest of Charing Cross. The square has two notable buildings, the first being Peter Jones department store which was designed by Reginald Uren of the firm Slater Moberly and Uren in 1936 and now a Grade II listed building. The other is the Royal Court Theatre first opened in 1888 which has been important for avant-garde theatre since 1956 when it became the home of the English Stage Company.
King's Road meanwhile, is a major street stretching through Chelsea and Fulham, both in West London, England. It is often associated with 1960s style and with fashion figures such as Mary Quant and Vivienne Westwood. The name 'King's Road' dates from its function as a private road used by King Charles II to travel to Kew. It remained a private royal road until 1830, but people with connections were able to use it.
