I was out doing some work when I drove past this one house that stuck out from everything else on the block. Every other yard on the street was kept up, but this one had grass that was just way too tall and it was pretty obvious nobody had been taking care of it. I went up to knock on the door and right away I noticed a big white placard on the front of the house that was a housing violation. So clearly the place was vacant. I wanted to get a little more of the backstory though, so I went next door to talk to the neighbor. He told me he doesn't really keep track of the house and doesn't know much about it, but he's seen someone come out to cut it maybe once or twice before. So, I figured I'd go ahead and get it cleaned up for the neighborhood and I ended up spending the entire day out there. I started by cleaning up the edges, the curbs, the sidewalk, and the driveway, and then worked my way through all the tall grass across the yard. Once I got deeper into the property, I realized there was poison ivy everywhere. I'm talking thick vines climbing up the side of the house, covering whole sections of the yard. I couldn't just leave it like that, so I suited up in a full hazmat setup and went after it. It was brutally hot out and the vines were so thick I couldn't even pull them down by hand, so I had to weed eat most of it off. By the time I finished, the place looked like a completely different property. Even though nobody's living there right now, at least the rest of the neighborhood doesn't have to look at it anymore, and hopefully whoever owns it decides to either fix it up or get it into someone's hands who will.
