Description
In northern India, thousands of Tibetan children in exile are growing up far from the country their families were forced to leave. Many crossed the Himalayas as children, carried by parents or grandparents who believed that distance from Tibet might be the only way to keep Tibetan identity alive.
At school, they learn English, science and modern subjects, but also Tibetan language, history, Buddhist philosophy and culture. In Tibet, these memories were often too dangerous to speak about. In exile, they become the foundation of a new generation.
Through the lives of students like Dholma, Sonam and Thinley, this documentary explores how education becomes an act of resistance, and how a people without freedom continues to survive through memory, discipline and transmission.
