Sun City: Life Inside America’s Pensioner Paradise | FULL DOCUMENTARY

Sun City, Arizona, was designed as a retirement town for active senior citizens. Around 40,000 people live there, drawn by the sunshine, safety, leisure facilities and the promise of spending later life in a carefully planned community. The film follows residents including George Nash, who fills his days with exercise, pickleball, softball and dancing, and Dale and Judy Marta, whose weekly routine revolves around golf, sport and social activities. Through the work of hair stylist Sarah Roadruck, who has served Sun City residents for more than forty years, the documentary also shows the personal relationships, routines and losses that shape daily life in the town. From real-estate tours and recreation centers to sheltered accommodation and singles dances, Sun City presents one version of aging in America. The film looks at what this “pensioner paradise” offers, and what it cannot avoid.
