NSW Police have intensified their crackdown on the G7 gang after uncovering a network of “kill cars” allegedly used by contract criminals across Sydney. The investigation came to light after officers disrupted a planned murder outside a daycare centre.
Earlier this week, police intercepted a group of men in Revesby, in Sydney’s southwest. The men were allegedly armed and wearing balaclavas, preparing to ambush their target as he arrived to pick up a child. They were arrested and charged immediately.
Police confirmed that the arrests form part of a wider operation targeting the G7 gang — a group accused of supplying heavily modified “kill cars” to carry out shootings, kidnappings, and other serious crimes.
Two men linked to the gang, aged 18 and 21, have been charged with proceeds of crime, possession of instruments of crime, and gang-related offences. A 16-year-old remains in custody over car theft and driving charges.
A series of raids across eight Sydney properties led police to seize five vehicles, a firearm, ammunition, $41,000 in cash, GPS trackers, and 37 encrypted communication devices.
Detective Superintendent Peter Faux, commander of the Organised Crime Squad, said the operation represents a shift in strategy.
“We’ve had enormous success following the money. Now, we’re following the cars,” he said.
“The use of kill cars has become a trademark of organised crime networks like the G7 gang. These vehicles are being used in murders, kidnappings, and other high-risk offences.”
Police are urging the public to report any suspicious cars parked for long periods or showing signs of tampered plates.
“That one tip could stop a crime or save a life,” Det Supt Faux said.
The operation comes amid a wave of gang-related violence across Sydney, with public shootings and retaliatory attacks becoming increasingly common. Police say the G7 gang’s use of kill cars is a key focus as they work to dismantle organised criminal networks and restore safety to the city’s streets.
However, it will be interesting to see whether this new strategy of targeting vehicles and surveillance networks will be enough to slow the G7 gang’s reach, or if the group will simply adapt and find new ways to stay ahead of law enforcement.
