Description

Protecting South Australia’s Ospreys Friends of Osprey is a South Australian conservation group focused on protecting and growing the population of Osprey in South Australia. Visit the website at https://friendsofosprey.com.au For more information about the daily life on the nest go to the Observation Board at https://portlincoln-osprey.com/obs If you want to help our ospreys, you can donate via PayPal (link on the observationboard) directly to Port Lincoln Osprey This is a nest on a barge in Port Lincoln South Australia. It is at the entrance to the Lincoln Cove Marina. The Ospreys have been nesting here prior to us purchasing the barge in 2015. We moved the nest from another barge to this current barge as it is higher out of the water and more stable. We then installed a security camera and solar panels so that we can watch the nest 24/7. Our Osprey don't migrate, and we don't have problems with predators, but in the past, we have had lots of siblicide and yet there was always plenty of fish being delivered. The nest is 1.25m by 1.5m. The daily highlights and previous history of this nest can be viewed on the Port Lincoln Osprey Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/portlincolnosprey/ Chat Rules for our Nest Community Welcome to our nest community chat! We're thrilled to have you join us in discussing the wonderful world of our feathered friends. To ensure a respectful and enjoyable experience for everyone, please take a moment to review our chat rules: 1. Keep it Clean and Respectful: We encourage open discussions about what's happening in the nest, but let's keep the language clean and respectful. There are plenty of ways to express yourself without resorting to harsh or explicit language. 2. No Negative Comments: We believe in fostering a positive and supportive atmosphere for our avian family, including Mum, Dad, and the chicks. Negative comments about them will not be tolerated. 3. Avoid Name-Calling: Name-calling, such as "Killer" or "Bully," is not in line with our values of respect and positivity. Please refrain from using derogatory terms. 4. Stay Calm and Positive: While it's natural to be concerned about the birds' well-being, we ask that you refrain from using overly dramatic panic language like "He's going to die!!" Let's maintain a calm and constructive tone. 5. Respect Fellow Viewers: Remember that our community is made up of bird enthusiasts just like you. Negative comments about other viewers will not be tolerated. 6. Please keep chat focussed on Osprey and this nest: Not everyone is endeared by off topic chat and it makes it hard to go through the chat to find what is really happening on the nest Consequences for Violating Chat Rules: If these rules are not followed, our moderators may remove comments that violate these guidelines. Depending on the severity and frequency of the violations, you may receive a temporary mute or, in more serious cases, be banned from the chat indefinitely. Our goal is to create a welcoming and enjoyable space for all bird lovers to share their passion and observations. Thank you for being a part of our nest community, and let's continue to celebrate the beauty of nature together! #portlincoln #osprey #friendsofosprey
