Conceived with the dream of creating “the definitive truck” that would adapt to the reality of the transport industry during the 1970s and 1980s, it was a highly innovative design that took the benefits of cab-over-engine trucks and bolstered them with aerodynamic improvements, the result of a truly unique design. While it was one of the most innovative and high-potential trucks of the era, in addition to suffering from a lack of investment, the idea suffered from being developed at the best and yet the worst possible time. Although its benefits could have revolutionized the industry, changes in road transport caused this project to slowly fade away. Today, we only preserve its legacy in the few Paymasters that were manufactured, but the memory of what it achieved will remain present in the history of heavy-duty road transport.
