Deep in the jungle of Papua New Guinea, the Kaluli people gather to honor Papa Minoa, one year after his death. To prepare the Koluba ceremony, the village collects sago, feathers, tree sap and everything else they need from the forest that shapes their daily life. As night falls, the men become fire dancers. Their chants recall the rivers, trees and mountains connected to the dead, while burning torches are pressed against their backs to share the pain of grief. What looks spectacular is, above all, a collective act of mourning. Through the eyes of photographer Marc Dozier, this documentary enters a rare ritual where memory, land, fire and family come together to keep a loved one present among the living.
