Today we review the 2025 #BMW #M3 Touring LCI (G81) — and I’ll say it straight: this is our generation’s IT car. When the G80 first launched, the internet lit up with grille memes. But fast-forward to today, and the M3/M4 are #BMWM’s best sellers alongside the M2. They’ve crushed rivals: the RS4 is old, the C63 4 cyl is a flop — and AMG fans, Porsche guys, ex-C63 owners — everyone wants to try the M3. Truly, it’s a car that has carried the whole segment on its wide broad shoulders, without breaking a sweat! And this generation gave us the first-ever M3 Touring (G81). In the UK it’s been huge hit, selling 50/50 against the sedan - and globally, demand surged 57% in 2024. It was such a success that it directly paved the way for the return of the M5 Touring. Proof that when BMW listens to customers, we all win big! All of this is why, I feel this is our era’s IT car. Not some limited-run unicorn, but the attainable dream. The car that every petrolhead wants to experience at least once. Now the LCI update brings tweaks. Firstly, some subtle design — new front lights, glossy logos, updated OS8.5 interior, and a new steering wheel. But the real story is under the skin: BMW has unlocked extra performance. On paper it’s 530 hp and 650 Nm, officially 0–62 mph in 3.6s. But as you’ll see, this car annihilates those numbers. It’s punching into old super saloon territory — E63, RS6, M5 Comp — and even matching the new M5 Touring with 727 hp! And crucially, it does this without compromise: no hybrid, EV or four-cylinder nonsense. Just the sweet S58 inline-six, AWD with switchable RWD mode, adaptive suspension, and an M-specific shell. Still pure M DNA. Today we look at: • A full breakdown of the M3 Touring • LCI update changes • LCI Exterior and interior • Boot space and practicality • Spec advice — how not to overspend • Full performance + Launch control • vs the M5 Touring Driving it again, it’s like meeting an old friend. This car is so light on its feet, so sharp, it feels like the closest thing to a 911 in a 5-seat wagon. Speed is shocking, handling sublime, and it still delivers that undiluted M feel. We will also look at the next so called G50 and G51 new M3 generation, which is due to be based on the Neue Klasse future of BMW. I am expecting both ICE inline-six and full EV, so we will go over both the NA0 and ZA0 3 series future. Every generation has an IT car. For ours, in an era of EV force-feeding and ICE fear-mongering, it’s the M3.
