Description
Witness one of the most dramatic solar events I've ever captured! On September 6, 2025, I recorded a massive prominence eruption on the east limb of the Sun near active regions AR 4197, 4201, and 4202. The eruption reached more than 10 Earth diameters high before most of the plasma rained back to the surface.

What made this event special is what happened afterward. A huge, incredibly bright hot spot (black in the video, but naturally white) stayed anchored to the limb for several minutes, so bright it even saturated my camera. The plasma seemed to dance and swirl before finally fading away.
This kind of event is often associated with solar flares and magnetic reconnection, where energy is explosively released from the Sun’s magnetic field.
The speed of this footage is around 300x compared to real time.
The sound is made out of audio clips from NASA's Parker Probe that recorded parts of the solar wind.
