Description

I’ve been fortunate enough to fly with aircrews of our international partners and observing how cockpit tasks are accomplished has always been a fascination. This C@ndid cargo crew is on approach to an airfield in Africa. The pilots are doing their thing… on glideslope and on glidepath… but are not touching the throttles. In the KC-135, the pilot flying does throttles and yoke. Which is why this video intrigued me. The Flight Engineer is working all four throttles during the approach and landing. I was fascinated to see the FE pull the inboard throttles to idle and leave the outboard throttles up all the way to touchdown. Once on the runway, the FE brings the outboards to idle but then brings the outboard thrust reversers up to slow the plane down to taxi speed. I’ve never seen a split-throttle landing of a plane and found that procedure interesting. Comment below on your big airplane landing techniques approaching the runway numbers! #aviation #avgeek #military #airforce #army #navy #usmc #pilot #pilotlife #flight #flying #fly #aircraft #airplane #plane #jet #airport #photo #photography #video #videoviral #viralvideos #lessonsfromthecockpit #podcast #show #cargo #aircargo
