Nicolene Arcaina’s first task as a lawyer was to document killings in the drug war in a dumpsite. She was 24. Now 31 years old, she is the court-appointed case manager for victims at the International Criminal Court where Rodrigo Duterte is on pre-trial. “It’s such an honor to be in service of Filipinos who are doing their best to be brave,” says Arcaina. She says she told families after the pre-trial that many others are working for them.
