Description

In today's video, amidst freezing winter chills, I built a powerful homemade room heater that blasts instant hot air to warm up any space quickly and affordably. This DIY fan heater uses simple household materials like plywood for the enclosure, high-heat nichrome or PTC elements, computer fans for forced airflow, a switch, and a 12V SMPS power supply—no fancy tools needed, total cost under ₹500. Key Components & Assembly Steps Constructed a compact plywood box to safely house two 500W heating elements (total 1000W output at 220V), positioned for maximum heat transfer. Added two 12V PC fans at the rear, powered by the SMPS adapter, to push scorching air forward like a mini blower—reaches 60-80°C in seconds. Included a rocker switch for on/off control, basic wiring with heat-resistant sleeving, and ventilation holes to prevent overheating. Elements glow red-hot instantly, with fans distributing warmth evenly across the room without drying out the air. Components Used: 1. Heating: 2x 500 Watt Heating Elements (1000W Total) 2. Airflow: 2x 12V DC Cooling Fans (Computer Fans) 3. Power Supply: 12V SMPS (to run the fans) 4. Body: Plywood / Wooden Enclosure (Heat resistant coating recommended) 5. Control: On/Off Switch & Wiring ⚠️ SAFETY WARNING: This project involves high voltage (220V) and high heat. Since the body is made of plywood, please ensure you use proper insulation (like Mica sheets or metal lining) between the elements and the wood to prevent burning. Never leave this heater ON and unattended. If you enjoyed this project or found it interesting, don’t forget to like, share, and subscribe for more DIY and electronics projects!
