Description
There have been a whole host of terrible warship designs that we've covered on this channel - some that failed thanks to mistakes made on the drawing board, others that fell apart at the seams thanks to shoddy construction. Today we examine three more terrible warships from history; the November class, pioneering nuclear submarines that were hastily thrown together resulting in quality control issues that proved fatal to their own crews. Then the Tegtethoff class of dreadnought battleships, constructed with paper-thin anti-torpedo protection at a time when fast motor torpedo boats wrought havoc. Finally the CSS Georgia - a slow, overweight white elephant of an ironclad built for the Confederate Navy that never fired a shot in anger.
Oceanliner Designs explores the design, construction, engineering and operation of history’s greatest vessels– from Titanic to Queen Mary and from the Empress of Ireland to the Lusitania. Join maritime researcher and illustrator Michael Brady as he tells the stories behind some of history's most famous ocean liners and machines!
