🌳 Koala-Friendly - Cold Climate Food Forest in Crossley 🐨🌿
In this heartwarming episode, we return to Crossley, Victoria, where a passionate group of volunteers—alongside the one and only Costa Georgiadis—came together to plant something truly special: a koala-friendly food forest.
Designed to feed both people and wildlife, this living system is more than just a garden—it's a sanctuary in the making. Every tree was planted with purpose:
🍃 For the koalas – We carefully selected native gum species known to be their favourites, to coppice four for regenerative growth that will be easily harvested to feed the koalas in the nearby refuge center.
🌱 For the people – A wideselection of Temperate Climate Fruit Trees and groundcovers that will create abundance in a few years.
🌬️ We considered wind protection, strategic placement, and nutrient-rich soil to give each tree the best start.
🦘 And yes, we built clever ways to protect it all from the kangaroos and the cold winter winds!
All of this supports the local Koala Rescue Sanctuary, helping them provide food for koalas in care leaving plenty of room for the existing local community of koalas.
This is a story of community, compassion, and regeneration.
Watch to see what’s possible when we plant with heart. 🌍💚
