Something TERRIBLE happened on this block and nobody really talks about it

I went up to knock on the door, but I ended up not even knocking because I could see right through the window and the whole place was empty. So I walked around back to see what I was working with, and the grass back there was even taller, probably getting upwards of ten feet in spots and almost touching the power line. It was like that the entire length of the backyard. So I figured I'd go ahead and get this place cleaned up. I started by edging up the front sidewalk, the curb, and the entire driveway, and then I got to work knocking down all that overgrowth. While I was working, a couple of neighbors came over and started telling me the history of this area, and it honestly blew me away. They told me these were war houses built back in the 40s, and that back in the 60s a jet tanker crashed right into this neighborhood. All the fuel burned down the surrounding homes, and this house actually caught on fire too, but because it was brick, it was one of the only ones on the block that was able to be restored. Apparently it was the worst non-natural disaster in the history of Kansas, and I had no idea any of that happened right here.
